Curling Season Update

Dear Curlers,

In light of the province of Alberta’s continued shut-down of provincial curling, your Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to not reopen the Crestwood Curling Club for the remainder of the 2020-2021 season. With the enormous monthly costs associated with running our plant, and the operational costs, we have concluded that it’s not viable to continue waiting for the green light from the government. This is the path forward that the majority of Alberta curling clubs have chosen. It has been a difficult year financially for our club with not having a curling season as a result of Covid 19, and the $150,000.00 price tag on the repairs to our curling area columns.  With that in mind we kindly ask those who are able to, to consider generously donating their paid league fees to the club. This act of kindness would greatly aid in keeping the Crestwood Curling Club financially viable following this challenging season.

Given the decision to remain closed, the guidelines for any league fees that have been paid for this season are as follow:

Donation:

  1. The fees you have paid can be donated to the club in full.
  2. A portion of the fees you have paid can be donated to the club with the balance carried forward for registration for curling next season.

For either option above you can get your donation with or without a tax receipt providing the donation is a minimum of $50.00.  The donated money and money carried forward will help with the club’s operation costs until we open next season. Anyone choosing either of the above options will be assured that their league fees will remain at the same cost as the 2020-2021 season.

Carry Forward of Fees

  1. Fees paid to date can be carried forward for any league fees that have been paid for the 2020-2021 season for registration for curling next season.

Money carried forward will help with the club’s operational costs until we open next season. Anyone choosing this option will be assured that their league fees will remain at the same cost as the 2020-2021 season.

Refund

  1. Fees paid to date can be refunded.
  2. There will be $20 administrative fee as per the refund policy.

Unfortunately, with the lost revenues that all curling clubs experienced this year, you can expect to see a sizeable increase in fees for 2021-2022 season. The Crestwood Curling Club has not yet established our rates for next season, or the refund schedule for those who chose the refund option. Our management staff will be in touch with you in the upcoming weeks to discuss your options.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank you for your patience and on-going support. It is our hope to offer Pickleball at the club this summer and then get back out on the ice in the fall. Until then, take care – we look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Reg Reinhardt
